Command Center

The Red River is at 50.3 ft as of noon today. The ice is finally breaking up and moving north. Witnesses reported the loud sounds when the ice started breaking apart. This picture is looking north from the Red River bridge.

Looking from the Red River bridge across the Moto-Cross track toward Ed Haugen's (now an island).

Volunteers manning the Command Center.
I sat here last night (this morning?) from midnight until 8 a.m. It was a cold night for the walkers. There's a breeze today and that doesn't help. Everything looks good so far. There is some normal seepage in So Pembina so walkers on that side need their water boots. One of the walkers this afternoon will try to take some pictures for me to post.

The National Guard is gathering at the Command Center.

Some volunteers stop to eat and visit.
